Military Height Safety

Within the RAF, Army and the Royal Navy over the years there has been an increased awareness of the risk associated with working at height.

There are many and varied scenarios where service personnel, when carrying out their duties, will be exposed to these dangers. The simple action of climbing on a main battle tank to fit camouflage nets is an identified risk. To facilitate the identification of the work situations, which need to be addressed under the Working at Height Regulations, the MoD have set up a Tri-service “Centre of Excellence” at RAF Wyton.

SpanSet Ltd are the contracted supplier of all PPE to the Tri Services via an Enabling Contract and work closely, acting as Technical Advisors, to the WAH Team. We have developed solutions to many operational requirements and supply not just fall protection equipment but rope access and casualty evacuation systems both for covert and overt use. SpanSet systems are used throughout the services, on board ships, working on fixed or rotary wing aircraft, all aspects of engineering support and many covert operations. To support this equipment in-service SpanSet Ltd are contracted to supply training to all levels of users and also provide advanced courses for instructors.
