Module 2 / FALL ARREST

DURATION

1/2 a day or 3 hours, but only carried out in conjunction with module 1.

Normally 10: 1

REGISTRATION AND PRE-COURSE INSTRUCTIONS

  • All delegates to be registered on the course registration form
  • All delegates to be advised of the following
    · Fire procedure
    · Toilets and welfare

This Module is designed as an enhancement of module 1 and is only carried out when delegates have successfully completed that module.

INTRODUCTION

The course is designed to provide;

  • A practical enhancement to module 1 to allow delegates the opportunity to apply the knowledge to typical locations.
  • The applications will ideally be tailored to those typically
    encountered by the delegates in their work situation, but to ensure a good depth of knowledge they will also include common applications.

COURSE SYLLABUS

Theory

There are no theory elements to those covered in module 1.

COURSE SYLLABUS

Practical

In addition to the practical elements af module 1 the following topics will be covered and where appropriate additional topics specific to the client will also be covered. If any of the following elements are not required by the client then delegates will be given a knowledge of them, but will not individually be required to practice them.

The topics are;

  • Correct fitting and adjustment of fall arrest harnessses by all delegates.
  • Ladder ascent and descent using inertia blocks.
  • Ladder ascent and descent using in-situ permanent systems.
  • Ladder ascent and descent using temporary systems.
  • The use of fall arrest lanyards.
  • The use horizontal safety lines.
  • The use of horizontal trans-fastener type systems.

COURSE SUMMARY

  • In addition to the test carried out in module 1 all delegates will be monitored by the trainer throughout the practical sessions. Any concerns will be addressed by delegate and trainer on a continual basis.
  • Summarise the topics covered during the course.
  • Issue course feedback forms.
  • Thank the delegates for attending.

  • Fall arrest manuals.
  • White boards and markers.

  • 2 Point fall arrest harness
  • Inertia block
  • Rail lock travellers

  • Fall arrest lanyards
  • Horizontal safety line
  • Latchway trans-fasteners
FEEDBACK TO CLIENT AFTER COURSE
  • Certificate for all delegates, valid for three years
  • Photo ID card for all delegates, valid for three years

  • Course registration sheet
  • Copy photo for duplicate issue
  • Course feedback forms where completed
